What is the difference between bathroom remodel and renovation?

Technically, renovation and remodeling are defined differently. While a remodel changes the shape of something (such as adding a new shower to an existing bathroom), a renovation focuses more on restoring something old to a good state (fixing a creaky floor, for example). When you talk about a remodel, you're referring to several changes made to the appearance of your bathroom. It focuses on making only changes that affect the layout, design and overall appearance.

Therefore, a remodeling project is essentially about reviving your bathroom to give it a new look. It does not involve structural changes in the size of the place, for example. Bathroom remodeling involves more than simply replacing several bathroom accessories. This usually involves a different design, the relocation of existing accessories, or the addition of important new features, such as a hot tub, a sauna, a steam room, a walk-in shower, windows that are not replacements or skylights.

Most bathroom remodeling projects usually include some type of expansion. Therefore, the walls and cabinets are removed and moved for the new layout design. When considering remodeling a bathroom instead of a renovation, remodeling the bathroom focuses on making changes to the appearance. Whatever you decide to do, you can count on Freedom Builders & Remodelers to plan and execute your bathroom remodel or renovation.
